Banana Blaster: Rogue Drones

A swarm of rogue drones is descending on your position.
You have one weapon.
It is a banana.
This is fine.

Banana Blaster start screen

Yes, a Banana.

Banana Blaster is a mobile arcade shooter where your controller is a piece of fruit from your kitchen. Hold your phone with the screen facing you and extend a banana in front of the back camera — the camera that faces away from your face. The game locks on to the banana and tracks it in real time using computer vision, entirely on-device.

Rogue drone swarms descend in tight, symmetric formations — diamonds, arrowheads, twin-wing patterns, spirals. Move the banana horizontally to steer your ship and blast them before they reach you. Each wave — sorry, each Swarm — is tougher than the last, and when you whittle the numbers down, a colossal Mother Drone arrives to make things personal.

As the campaign deepens, Kamikaze drones detach from the formation and dive straight down at your ship — glowing red, marked with a warning arrow, tracking your position as they fall. Deal with them or take the hit.

Here is the twist: poke a drone with the banana tip to destroy it on contact — and it may drop a power-up capsule as it goes. Direct physical banana contact. The drones did not see this coming. Neither will you, the first time a laser beam fires out of your fruit.

Requires one (1) banana. Banana not included. Please source your own banana responsibly.

See It in Action

48 seconds of a grown adult waving a banana at their phone, achieving things.

Power-ups

Poke a drone with the banana tip to destroy it — and it may drop a power-up capsule. Bullets kill drones but do not drop capsules.

Your ship fires automatically — all you control is the banana. Move it left and right to steer your ship across the screen. Poke a live drone with the banana tip to destroy it instantly — and there is a chance it drops a glowing power-up capsule as it goes. Steer into the falling capsule to collect it. The banana is the only way to earn power-ups — bullets clear the swarm, the banana arm you for it.

🔴

Laser Beam

A continuous pulsing beam lances across the screen in your aim direction. Cuts through entire drone columns in one pass. Very satisfying. Very loud.

🔵

Immortality Shield

A pulsing cyan energy bubble wraps your ship. Drone collisions bounce harmlessly off while a full-screen vignette reminds everyone you are untouchable right now.

❄️

Freeze Blast

The entire swarm stops in place, hanging motionless while you methodically pick them off. Drones do not enjoy this. You will.

🟢

Spread Shot

Three bullets fan out from your cannon simultaneously. Covers wide formations in a single volley. Pairs extremely well with a crowded Swarm 1.

Rapid Fire

The ship's fire rate doubles. The drones do not appreciate this development. Your neighbours will hear it regardless.

💥

Smart Bomb

Activates on collection — the entire bottom row of the swarm detonates instantly. Clears your most immediate threat in one go. Best used when the front line is close.

💗

Extra Life

Your ship gets one more chance. Rare and precious, like a banana that is still green when you actually want to eat it.

HPM Burst

High-Power Microwave pulse fries every drone's navigation computer. The swarm scatters into chaotic tumbling — and ceases fire entirely while their electronics reboot.

Time Warp

Distorts local spacetime around the swarm. Drones drop to 25% speed, enemy bullets crawl, and the Mother Drone lumbers in slow motion. You stay at full speed. Make it count.

Swarm Modifiers

From Swarm 20 onward — one random modifier per Swarm, announced before the shooting starts.

Survive the first nineteen swarms and the rules start changing. Each Swarm from 20 onward draws a random modifier that reshapes how that wave plays. A three-second banner announces it before the drones move — read fast. There is no negotiation.

Speed Surge

The entire swarm marches 42% faster. Formation edges arrive sooner than expected. Your reflexes are about to be tested.

🛡️

Iron Carapace

Every drone has reinforced armour — takes two hits to kill. Pop counts are gone. You will feel every extra shot.

🌑

Blackout Protocol

The screen fades to near-black. Only your ship and the HUD remain visible. The drones are still there. Somewhere.

🔥

Suppression Fire

Drones fire twice as often. Enemy bullet density doubles. Keeping open lanes across the screen becomes the main challenge.

🚫

No Power-ups

Drones drop no capsules on death. The banana tip still destroys drones — it just won't reward you for it. Survive this wave on what you already have.

💀

Kamikaze Formation

Triple the normal rate of drone detachments. Multiple kamikazes dive simultaneously. Tracking them all is the game.

👻

Stealth Mode

Each drone pulses in and out of visibility on its own random cycle. The formation is there — you just can't always see it.

⬇️

Pressure Descent

The swarm drops twice as far when it bounces off a screen edge. It reaches your ship much faster than geometry suggests it should.

🔵

Shielded Vanguard

30% of drones have reinforced hulls marked with HP pips. Two hits each. The shielded ones are not distributed fairly.

🔱

Split Fire

Every drone fires a three-way spread — left, centre, right — instead of a single shot. Dodging any one burst means threading the other two.

Persistent Upgrades

Kill the Mother Drone to unlock an upgrade. They stack. They carry.

When the Mother Drone is destroyed, an upgrade selection screen appears between swarms. Pick one of three random upgrades — it stays with you permanently for the rest of the run. Stack upgrades strategically to build a loadout that can handle the modifiers waiting in the high swarms. The Lifesteal upgrade also rewards a bonus life for clearing any swarm without taking a single hit.

🔄

Deflect Shield

15% chance to deflect any incoming enemy shot — reversing its direction and turning it back on the swarm. Pairs well against Suppression Fire.

🛡️

Armor Charge

Absorbs one hit per Swarm for free — including kamikaze impacts. Recharges at the start of each wave. Essential on Blackout.

🌿

Spread Cannon

Permanently fires a three-bullet spread on every shot — no power-up required. Shreds dense formations and cancels No Power-ups entirely.

↩️

Ricochet

Bullets that reach a screen edge bounce back — once. Corner shots can arc across the entire swarm. Geometry becomes a weapon.

🧲

Banana Magnet

Power-up capsules drift toward your ship automatically. No more steering to collect — they come to you. Nice on high-density Swarms.

💚

Lifesteal

Clear a Swarm without taking a single hit and earn a bonus life. Instantly rewarding when you actually pull it off.

💥

Heavy Payload

All your bullets deal double damage. Iron Carapace drones fall in one hit. Shielded Vanguard stops being a chore. Essential once the modifiers start.

Rapid Fire Mod

Permanent 20% increase to fire rate — stacks on top of the Rapid Fire power-up when active. The ship practically vibrates. Neighbours will hear it.

Threat Dossier

Declassified. Probably.

BB-M1 "Gnat"
Scout-class Mother Drone

Coordinates swarms too small to be taken seriously. Has filed 47 workplace grievances against bananas. Threat level: persistent.

BB-M2 "Hoverton"
Patrol-class Mother Drone

Logs flight hours obsessively. Claims to hold a human pilot's licence. Does not hold a human pilot's licence. Very sensitive about this.

BB-M3 "Brute"
Assault-class Mother Drone

Compensates for poor aerodynamics with sheer aggression. Banned from three international airspace treaties. Won all three appeals.

BB-M4 "Overlord"
Siege-class Mother Drone

Technically too heavy to fly. Does anyway. When asked about this, engineering shrugs. Physics are considered advisory.

BB-M5 "Phantom"
Interceptor-class Mother Drone

Sleek, fast, and slightly smug about both. Has a personal vendetta against radar systems. Origin of vendetta: classified.

BB-M6 "Packrat"
Recon-class Mother Drone

The only drone in the fleet that files proper paperwork. Meticulous, organised, thorough. Still absolutely wants to kill you.

BB-M7 "Venom"
Strike-class Mother Drone

Aggressive paint job. Aggressive flight path. Aggressive idle animation. Aggressively named. Just very, very aggressive.

BB-M8 "Blitz"
Fast-attack Mother Drone

Moves so fast its own targeting computer loses track of it. Engineering considers this a feature. Pilots consider it a problem. There are no pilots.

Why Banana Blaster: Rogue Drones?

Other than the obvious reason, which is the banana.

🍌

Real Banana Controller

CV tracks the banana tip and angle live on-device. No cloud, no latency, no explaining yourself to anyone.

🚁

Tactical Swarm Formations

10 seeded symmetric patterns — each Swarm number always generates the same layout, so you can actually learn and counter them.

GL-Accelerated Effects

Neon drone glows, silhouette bloom, laser pulses, shield vignettes, and explosion cascades — all GPU-rendered at 60 fps so the carnage looks premium.

💀

Kamikaze Drones

Drones periodically break formation and dive straight at your ship, tracking your horizontal position as they fall. Red glow, warning arrow, no subtlety. Deal with them or lose a life.

🔊

Living Swarm Audio

Six detuned oscillators synthesize a drone buzz in real time. Quiet and distant at first — then the swarm descends and the sound fills the room. The audio is strikingly true to life: players consistently recognise it as an actual drone swarm. Banana Blaster is, among other things, an educational experience.

How to Play

1
Locate a banana

Open the fridge or fruit bowl. Select a banana of reasonable curvature. Hold your phone normally — screen toward you — and extend the banana in front of the back camera, on the far side of the phone. The game locks on automatically.

2
Grant camera access

Tap "Allow" when the game asks for camera permission. This is strictly to see your banana. Nothing else. We wrote it in the privacy policy.

3
Move to steer — shooting is automatic

Move the banana horizontally and the ship follows. Your cannon fires on its own. Focus on staying alive.

4
Poke drones for power-ups

Move the banana tip onto a live drone to destroy it instantly. Destroyed drones have a chance to drop a power-up capsule — steer your ship into it to collect. Laser beam, freeze blast, shield — all obtained by physically touching a drone with a banana.

5
Kill the Mother Drone to earn an upgrade

When ≤8 drones remain, the Mother Drone deploys and crosses the screen firing aimed shots. Destroy it and an upgrade selection appears between swarms — pick one permanent ability that carries into every future wave.

6
Survive the modifiers

From Swarm 20 onward, each wave arrives with a random modifier — speed surges, blackouts, split fire, stealth, and more. A three-second warning is shown before the swarm moves. Read it. Then deal with it.
